“Batouwe is crucial to Huverba’s success, just as we are important to Batouwe.”

“Customer Story”
A conversation with Huverba
Gijs Arends, Huverba:
“BATOUWE’S ENORMOUS ASSORTMENT IS TRULY UNIQUE!”
Batouwe’s roots can be traced back to Huverba in Opheusden. Henk Huibers, director of Batouwe, grew up in the family nursery founded by his great-grandfather in the 1920s. When Henk and his brother Willem started their own business in 2005, Huverba was one of their very first customers.
Gijs Arends, co-owner of Huverba, is more than satisfied with the long-standing and pleasant cooperation with Batouwe. “What really sets Batouwe apart is the enormous assortment they offer. There’s no other supplier of young plant material that can deliver so many different sorts and varieties. That’s a huge advantage for us and our customers!”
A Wide Range of Clients
“Huverba started out growing fruit and avenue trees. Today, we are one of the largest suppliers of trees and plants in Europe. What makes us unique is that we can deliver everything. That’s possible in large part thanks to Batouwe, from whom we purchase about 70% of our cuttings and P9s. We grow them on into larger plants, which we supply to a wide range of clients — from hotel chains to major landscaping contractors.”
Short Lines of Communication
“It’s a big plus that Batouwe is located nearby. Logistically it’s very convenient. You can just hop in the car for a quick visit to discuss ongoing matters. That fast and effective communication is really valuable. We know what we can expect from each other and we’re not afraid to speak up when things don’t go smoothly. A quick visit or a phone call is usually enough to resolve any issues immediately.”
A Strong Partnership
Gijs Arends concludes: “Batouwe is crucial to Huverba’s success, just as we are important to Batouwe. We both know that, and it gives us a strong and reliable foundation. We really value this partnership — we almost see it as a good marriage. After all, both companies are part of the same family, and that fosters trust and smooth cooperation.”
