Marcel van Haaften, Flora Nova:
“THE FUTURE IS GREEN, ALSO THANKS TO BATOUWE.”
The shrub cuttings from Batouwe enjoy a good life at Flora Nova in Ophemert. Every year in May, the cuttings arrive at Flora Nova’s nursery, where they are given a full year to grow. After that, they are delivered to a wide range of customers – from landscapers and large-scale green maintenance companies to Cash & Carry locations, municipal organizations, civil and groundwork contractors, exporters, architects and trading companies.
Operations manager Marcel van Haaften and grower Adriaan van den Berg are more than satisfied with their collaboration with Batouwe.
“In the past, we propagated our own shrubs, but due to time constraints we started looking for a supplier who could supply us the level of quality we and our customers expect. Our manager at the time knew Willem Huibers from Batouwe, and that’s how we first got in touch, around 2005.”
Landscaper and Grower
“Flora Nova has been active in the green sector for over 60 years,” Marcel explains.
“We design, build and maintain gardens, landscapes, interior greenery and everything that goes with it. In doing so, we create pleasant, natural and sustainable environments to live and work in. In addition to being an all-round landscaping company, we also run our own nursery for container cultivation and sedum production. From the largest tree to the smallest perennial – we can proudly say we’re able to deliver it all.”
Learning from Each Other
Adriaan adds:
“Green is in our DNA. And that’s where Batouwe is very similar to us. Just like us, they’re always looking for ways to improve. We’ve learned a lot from each other over the years, and it’s impressive to see how they’ve created the ideal conditions for their cuttings, whips and P9s. From day one, the communication has been great. You can always speak openly, and that helps to keep both sides sharp.”

Marcel concludes:
